Sir,

My family have been enjoying holidays in Tenby since my grandparents first visited the area in the late 1940s. We all love it very much, especially the wonderful beaches and harbour area.

While I do not want to be an out of towner shouting my views, the current dog fouling issue has given rise to this letter.

I applauded the fine given to the Pendine dog owner recently and wish dog walkers on Tenby beaches were treated the same.  I had two great weeks in Tenby in May and June, but was amazed to see how many dog owners ignore the signs and let their dogs onto the beach and also let them foul anywhere without  clearing it.

Following on, I was very annoyed when my two-year-old found dog mess while building sandcastles.

My home town has a similar problem and many areas are no more than dog toilets. Most dog owners do little for their image by letting their pets mess anywhere they like.

Clear the poo, get a better public image and the non canine loving public may change their views.

I would like to ask Tenby council to provide a dog warden who is as efficient as your traffic warden! This would I am sure be self-financing with income from fines for at least the first year.

A Tenby lover.
