Saturday saw the start of the Tenby Dog Racers West Wales Championship at the Snooty Fox track, Martletwy.

With over 50 dogs entered, there was lots of good racing with some of last year’s champs again to the fore.

Before racing, Tenby Dog Racers presented cheques to their charities for last year, Pembrokeshire Blood Bikes, Greenacre Rescue and Lluest Horse and Pony Trust, who received £200 each.

Round one champion results were:

Terriers Open: 1. Jess owned by Lorraine; 2. Bertie/ Kate; 3. Archie/Yan; 4. Alf/Yan.

Terriers Under 15 inches: 1. Bertie/Kate; 2. Tilly/Dave.

Terriers Under 12 inches: 1. Big Digger/Lauren; 2. Archie/Yan; 3. Alf/Yan; 4. Digger/Tom.

Lurchers Open: 1. Max/Kevin; 2. Roco/Dani; 3. Boyo/Jamie; 4. Frazer/Tom.

Lurcher Over 23 inches: 1. Max/Keven; 2. Roco/Dani; 3. Boyo/Jamie; 4. Flash/Lauren.

Lurchers Under 23 inches: 1. Mocca/Nicky; 2. Jake/ Joey; 3. Eve/M. Brown; 4. Meg/Dai.

Whippets: 1. Jake/Dave; 2. Monty/Vicky; 3. Jazz/Lauren; 4. Reubin/Vicky.

Non-champion races:

Novice: 1. Chalky/Tim; 2. Pepper/Jasmine.

Novelty: 1. Pepper/Jasmine; 2. Tilly/Dave; 3. Daisy/Jasmine.

The next meeting is again at The Snooty Fox track at Martletwy on Sunday, first race 3 pm. Please register by 2.30 pm.
