The Inner Wheel Club of Tenby met at the Fourcroft Hotel on Monday, April 10. President Margaret welcomed the District chairman, Mrs. Mary Emment Lewis, to the club. A delicious cold buffet was served prior to the meeting.

President Margaret opened the business meeting and the usual apologies for absence were given and the minutes of the last meeting read by Jean Peen. The news that Carwen Harry had agreed to be the next club president was very well received by the members present. Congratulations Carwen.

Joan Osborne is to represent the club at meetings of the new Scout and Guide Hall committee.

On Sunday, June 4, there is to be a sponsored walk, in aid of Diabetes, around Llysfran Dam. Several members have expressed a wish to take part. Arrangements will be made at the next meeting. The District Handover dinner will be held at the Nantyffin Hotel on June 22.

During the past few weeks, president Margaret and several members have attended various functions, including the Ladies Night of Tenby Rotary Club, where the guest speaker was Clive Merrison, Margaret also enjoyed an evening as guest of the Ladies Circle at their handover dinner at Swallowtree.

Best wishes and flowers were sent to Ellie and John on their ruby wedding and to Audrey and Charles on their golden wedding.

An Evening of Poems and Prose is the theme for the Inter Club meeting to be held at Church House at 7.30 pm on May 18.

Margaret introduced Mary Emment Lewis, the district chairman, as the guest speaker. Mary gave an interesting account of her early life and association with the Salvation Army, which is her nominated charity.

The Salvation Army played a very important part in her early life and that of her brothers and sisters. They looked after them in troubled times and kept them together.

President Margaret, on behalf of the club, presented her with a cheque for the Salvation Army and a gift of a house plant in a beautiful pot made by Boo Markes, of Tenby Pottery.

The next meeting will be at the Fourcroft Hotel on Monday, May 8.
