Sir, On behalf of several friends and myself, I write to express our dismay and disappointment at missing the launch of our Tenby lifeboat to meet up with its namesake, the RAFA 'Sir Galahad' on Monday, July 11. This event seems to have gone unannounced, with no local publicity whatsoever other than a vague mention in the 'Western Telegraph' during the previous week. On such a beautiful day, with so many visitors in Tenby, this historic event would have brought so much pleasure, as well as possibly creating an opportunity for the RNLI to raise funds. Too often, interesting events receive no publicity, or last minute publicity, so that locals and visitors miss out. Come on organisers, use the local paper to circulate information. Pictures after the event, as with the two 'Sir Galahads', are no compensation for watching it for real.
Gill Pountney, Saundersfoot.
The Observer did carry a brief article about the planned meeting of the two vessels in our issue of June 17 - Editor.
