Well-known Tenby couple, Harry and Lilla Luxton, are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.

The couple, who live at 5 Rocky Park, were married in Plymouth 60 years ago, on Monday, June 3.

Although they were married in Harry's home town, the couple first met in Tenby during the war, when Harry was a Royal Marine stationed with his unit at the Belgrave Hotel and Lilla, who was born and bred in the town, was a typist with the Fire Service.

Following their wedding on June 3, 1942, the couple moved back to Tenby and lived at the Lollipop Shop in St. George Street.

After the war, Harry worked for the Great Western Railway for many years, before the couple took over Ripley Guest House in St. Mary's Street, which they ran for 10 years.

They later became caretakers at Greenhill Community Education Centre, where they worked for 11 years until their retirement in 1984. They also enjoyed working part-time for a number of years at Tenby Museum.

Harry and Lilla have two daughters, Anne Powell, of Pembroke, and Jayne Gold, who lives with her husband, Les, in Upper Hill Park, Tenby. Sadly, their eldest daughter, Lorraine, and Anne's husband, Stephen, have passed away.

They also have a son-in-law, John, grandchildren Sharron, David, Jason, Emma, James, Jonathan, Matthew and Andrew, and a great-granddaughter, Naomi.

When asked their recipe for a happy marriage, Lilla said that it was a "little bit of give and take," while Harry felt it was "true love" that had seen them through their 60 years together.

Harry and Lilla will be marking their special anniversary with an 'open house' on Monday to which all family and friends are invited.
