The future managers of Tenby's De Valence Pavilion are on the lookout for new ideas for shows, entertainment, and community activities, particularly for the summer season coming up. Whether it's something for the younger generation, or for older people, all ideas are being welcomed.

The De Valence Trust is to take over the running of the pavilion at the beginning of April. Lawyers acting for the Town Council and for the Trust have been told to set a date of April 1 for the takeover, and the council's officers are making the necessary preparations.

The application that has been made for Objective One funds, to finance the employment of new staff, is still being processed by the Welsh European Funding Office, but it is hoped to get a positive decision on that by the end of this month.

That will mean the Trust will be able to publish the job advertisements next month, and hopefully interview and appoint in April. But, whatever happens with the Objective One application, the Trust are taking over the responsibility for the building in April.

Deputy Mayor of Tenby and Trust treasurer, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, told the Observer: "This is an exciting time for the De Valence. Setting up this Trust as a not-for-profit community enterprise, and registering it as a charity, will mean a fresh start for the finances of the pavilion. And the trustees are looking for new ideas for the use of the building - anyone who would like to use it for an entertainment or arts or community activity is welcome to get in touch with me at the De Valence.

"We want to see the building being profitably used, and we intend making it a success, "* she added. "Anybody who would like to help make this building a successful arts and community centre will be welcomed."
