Members at St. Johns Church, Tenby, are getting themselves ready for their annual Daffodil Festival which opens at the end of this month.
As usual, it is a four-day event, beginning on Friday, February 27, and ending on Monday, March 1, with a celebratory concert for St. David's Day, given by Tenby Male Choir at St Johns.
Mrs. Ann Maggs, co-ordinator and flower arranger par-excellence, has gathered together her team of helpers who will start the work of decorating the chapel on Monday, February 23, when they will begin to set up the artefacts which will be clothed with the thousands of daffodils, for which the festival has become famous. So famous, that notice of the event has appeared in the 'North American Welsh Newspaper.' Published on January 1, 2004, the article, written by Mrs. Peggy Wescott, a keen supporter of the festival, tells its readers all about what happens throughout the festival and describes this beautiful little town. She urges Welsh-Americans to visit, if they can!
This year, the theme of the festival is 'Hands Together' and this will be demonstrated in the many and varied displays which will fill the sanctuary and beyond.
Included in the festival celebrations of our Patron Saint, will be music, song and dance, as well as floral arrangements. Further details of performances will be given over the next two weeks and posters will be displayed in the locality. Fresh Welsh cakes will be made and sold and there will be a coffee morning on the Saturday to which all are welcome.
