The annual dinner of the Cresselly and District branch of the Royal British Legion was held at Coppet Hall, Saundersfoot, last month, when 60 members and friends greatly enjoyed an evening of good food and great friendship. Branch chairman John Brook welcomed members and guests and thanked all who were involved in the arrangements for the evening, especially vice-chairman, Mr. Martin Hyde, and standard bearer, Mr. Ashley Griffiths. In Mr. Hyde's review of the past year, he especially thanked all the officers of the branch for their loyal duties, and their encouragements to new members to join the branch. He also gave a warm welcome to Mr. and Mrs. George Davies. Mr. Davies had been branch chairman for many years, and had to retire last year through ill health. All present were delighted to see his return to good health. The evening brought to an end a very successful year of promoting the work of the Royal British Legion in the Carew and Cresselly areas, and all present pledged their support for the coming year. The next branch meeting will be held in the Carew Methodist Youth Centre on Wednesday, April 20, at 7.30 pm, when the speaker will be Mr. Frank Harris, of Pembroke Dock. A warm welcome is extended to old and new members.
