The Tenby Boxing Day Swim's 2008 theme of 'Around the World' will extend to the location of its crazy bathers as well as its costumes.
The dress code has been chosen in tribute to round-the-world adventurer, Rosie Swale Pope, who will lead the famous Tenby plunge at 11.30 am.
But it also acts as a reminder that for the past nine years, the event's sister swimmers have been striking out in the USA.
Former Tenby swim stalwart Dai Roberts, who is stationed in the States with the Nato forces, will be joined by wife Denise, work colleagues and fellow runners from the iFOCS Track Club for the ninth annual Virginia Beach iFOCS Boxing Day Swim.
Around 30 Stateside swimmers are already lined up for the 11 am dip in Chesapeake Bay, which will be preceded by a parade of flags and followed by a serving of that great British delicacy, bubble and squeak.
There will also be a smaller swim in a lake just south of Washington DC by group members who have moved to the area.
The USA swimmers will be collecting for the Tenby event's chosen charities, which are Barnardo's Cymru, The British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society (BRPS), Plant Dewi, Sandy Bear and Friends and The Tinkers Hill Trust.
