Over the past few months, favourites old and new have been hotly debated, championed and votes cast.
Now it's official! Pembrokeshire's own 'Big Read,' as voted for by children and young people across the county, is Martin Waddell's Owl Babies.
Roald Dahl's The Twits came second and Jacqueline Wilson's Girls in Love was third.
The 'Family Favourite' was the Harry Potter series, with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets taking top position.
All pupils who read a minimum of three of the shortlisted titles, and completed a challenge card voting for their own and their family's favourite, were entered into a county prize draw at Pembroke School.
Phil Thompson, public affairs adviser at Texaco, major sponsors of the Pembrokeshire 'Big Read,' drew the lucky names out of the bag.
The winners received their prizes at a special presentation in Haverfordwest Library on Tuesday, April 27, from guest speaker Dr. Mererid Hopwood, a celebrated writer and the only woman to receive the Chair and Crown of the Eisteddfod. All participants also received their own 'Big Read' certificate.
Dr. Hopwood gave an inspiring talk, reminding pupils of the power of their imaginations and creativity, and the opportunity reading offers to travel to places near and far.
The organisers of the 'Big Read' would like to thank all the pupils who took part and voted, and their schools for their support.
They would also like to thank all their sponsors, Texaco, Folly Farm, Heron's Brook, Oakwood, Castell Henllys, Tenby Dinosaur Park, Heatherton, WH Smith, Ocky White, Victoria Bookshop and Ocean Lab Fishguard, without whom the annual county reading promotion would not be possible.
