Tenby's police chief has come in for praise from the town's Mayor this week for the decrease in crime within the resort. Inspector Les Clark released crime figures to reassure the local community that despite concerns nationally about rising crime, locally, statistics show that there has been a reduction in recorded crime. "So far this fiscal year, overall recorded crime in Tenby has decreased by 15 per cent," said Insp Clark in his report which was brought before a meeting of the town council on Tuesday. "The more serious type of assault, those producing actual bodily harm, have reduced by 46 per cent, which equates to 41 fewer victims requiring police or medical services," he continued, also pointing out that street robbery within the town was almost unheard of, with no such offences taking place since he took up the post in 2002. "I'd like to congratulate Inspector Clark on the work he's doing; I'm totally behind him," remarked Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter.
