Tenby councillors have recommended refusal of a controversial planning application relating to Fecci and Sons' Ice Cream Parlour in the town's Upper Frog Street,. The application, submitted by Mr. and Mrs. B. L. T. Fecci, is to replace the existing flat roof with a pitched roof on the parlour building situated next to the De Valence Pavilion. However, after studying plans for the proposal at their meeting on Tuesday night, members of the town council expressed concern at the visual impact the new roof design would have on the historic town walls. "Initially the roof is well below the town walls, but with a whole new floor put into the building, a new roof on top of that would go well above the level of the town walls, causing considerable visual impact," commented Clr. Paul Rapi. "If we were to approve this application, I think we would be setting a precedent for others to submit similar applications, therefore I would recommend refusal," added Clr. Damian Brown. Councillors agreed to recommend refusal of the application, with their views to be forwarded to the Pembrokeshire National Park Authority.
