A MINIATURE air force has landed at Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre, thanks to the generous support of RAF Veteran Colin Edwards.

Colin, for many years landlord of the now closed Flying Boat pub in Queen Street, Pembroke Dock, has donated his large collection of diecast models to the Centre. These include several Short Sunderlands - the type most synonymous with the RAF at Pembroke Dock.

Other donations include a large photograph of the last flight made by an RAF Sunderland, in Singapore in 1959, and several aviation books.

Heritage Centre Collections Trustee Andrew Ludlow said: “Colin has supported us over many years with items from the Flying Boat pub and we display the pub sign, which appropriately depicts a Sunderland.

“Apart from Sunderlands, several of the models have a direct connection to Pembrokeshire’s aviation story. Colin is happy for us to sell models to raise funds for the Centre and we are very grateful for all his support, now and in the past.”

The Heritage Centre is now closed for the winter, ready to re-open on Monday, March 1. But keep an eye on https://pdht.org/whats-on for news of events during the winter months.

The centre has also expressed thanks to its volunteers. “These amazing, kind, talented, hard-working people give freely of their own time, week in and week out, to help make the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre a success and to promote and preserve our town's remarkable history for generations to come.”
