A LOCAL woman is embarking on a 'golden' bike trek in India, through what is known as 'The Land of the Kings' to raise money for Diabetes UK.

Claire Coates, of Tenby, will take on the 'Rajasthan Tiger Bike Challenge' when she sets off from Delhi on November 26, cycling 480km around the golden triangle through areas of Agra and Rajasthan's capital city Jaipur during her time in India.

Her aim is to raise at least £2,750 for the charity challenge, with a number of fundraising events lined up to help her cause, such as a quiz night at The White Horse Inn, Kilgetty, on Sunday, February 19, at 7.30 pm, a darts competition at Tenby's Three Mariners the following Sunday, and another quiz night at The Black Lion in St. Clears on Saturday, March 24.

"This is a charity that is special to me because it runs in my family, so I would like to help for future generations," said Claire.

"My training is going well, it's hard work, but I will get there!

"I have a number of events coming up to raise this money and would appreciate the support of everyone," she added.
