Holyrood and St. Teilo's Catholic Church, Tenby, is currently clad in scaffolding and netting as work proceeds on a major restoration project.
Work is well behind due to weather problems, and there is still no finishing time arranged.
Whilst the weather has been a problem, some inside work has been completed. The sanctuary has been re-ordered and painted, but much of the inside has been put on hold.
Some damage to the recent paintwork has occurred due to rain penetrating the roof whilst the old tiles were being removed, which means that the paint has to be touched-up.
The major tiling has been done, with the sacristy roof currently undergoing renovation. There is work being done in the car park area to ensure that surface water is flushed away.
New drain pipes are being put in place which, along with the major renovation, has caused major disruption to services. Holy Mass is said in the parish hall during weekdays and Mass is said in the church which calls for a grand slam cleaning operation each Friday!
Grants have been given by CADW and The National Lottery, but there is a need for much more financial fund-raising by parishioners to complete the remainder of the work.
Watch this space for fund-raising events, beginning with the Christmas bazaar! Parishioners have been very understanding Deo Gratias!
