An exciting new Christmas event is scheduled for this weekend, tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, when Towy Event's new Christmas Gift and Craft Show comes to the United Counties Showground, Carmarthen. Carmarthen-based events organisers, Towy Events (whose long-running antiques fairs, as well as the popular Homes and Gardens Shows regularly attract large numbers of visitors), are now planning a seasonal extravaganza on a grand scale - a one- stop shopping event offering everything for Christmas, all under one roof. "The Christmas Gift and Craft Show will not only offer a huge variety of original gift ideas, but Christmas decorations, cards, and food and wine too," enthused show manager, Lois Gibbon. "We aim to provide visitors with a really unusual alternative to chainstore shopping." Exhibitors will comprise both local businesses and some from further afield and promise some unusual and original ideas for gifts. Traditional Christmas stand-bys such as jewellery and toiletries will all be hand-crafted, clothing hand-spun and woven from Alpaca and rare breeds; there will be toys for children and grown-ups, seasonal plants, as well as good seasonal things to eat and drink! Towy valley company, Merlin's Hill Centre have organised for well-known local author Peter Hughes Griffiths to attend the show on both days and sign his recently published book, 'Hiwmor Sir Gar' - a great Christmas gift for some light humour over the festive period. Towy Events have also enlisted the expertise of local Carole Evans to give a demonstration on some top tips for decorating your Christmas cake. Plenty of gifts to take away with you, as well as the most essential product of all for most families - the Christmas tree, supplied by local trader, Roger Hunt, of Cymru Christmas Trees. The Christmas Gifts and Crafts Show takes place tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, December 1 and 2, at the United Counties Showground, Carmarthen. The show is open from 10 am - 5 pm on Saturday and 10 am - 4 pm on Sunday. Admission is £3.50 for adults. Parking is free and plentiful and refreshments will be available at the show.
