On Saturday, St. Mary's, Begelly, held a christening gown display in the church and Easter activities for children in the hall. Over 20 beautiful gowns were on display around the church, some of them dating back to the early1900s and one to 1873, along with boys christening clothes, shawls, quilts, Baptism cards and photographs and memorabilia. Those who attended seemed to be impressed with the display, but what a pity that more people didn't take the opportunity to see these wonderful items. The few children who came along had fun, painting eggs and rolling them (no hurling them!) down the hill, between showers. They also searched for four large Easter rabbits in the grounds and also counted the tiny chicks dotted around the display in the church; the dads seemed to be enjoying this too! Thank you to all those who worked so hard to put on this event and to those who loaned the lovely gowns.
