More smiles from Chief Chicken Morran Boot this week, as once again the number trotting out last Friday exceeded the 20 mark.
"And the standard seems to be improving all the time," he revealed, "as par for the day was an impressive 26."
Three players managed to better that, though, as they tied at the top on 27 points.
It meant a lot of head-scratching for the statisticians, before they eventually arrived at their decision that that man Stan Hudson had once again got his beak in front thanks to a 'better back few holes'.
As a result, he pocketed the sum of £1.80, while the two others, Bob Howse and John Hancock, had to be content with second and third place, respectively, earning £1.60 and £1.40 for their efforts.
Another player was just a point further back on 26 and his theory of using irons off the tee might have worked, had he not forgotten this strategy by the second and taken his driver onto the tee. Big mistake, as the nearby sheds immediately came under threat of bombardment!
Brian Waters collected £1 for bagging the only two of the day on the sixth, while Hywel Probert was another in the money as he had his entry fee returned after claiming the booby with 17 pts.
More adventures with the Chicken Trotters this Friday morning - weather permitting.
