St Brides Spa Hotel hosted the third presentation of the FBM Holidays Tenfoot Swim. This year’s events included The Tenfoot Swim along with the Footstep Run challenge and the first Swim/Run event which was a great success.

The total raised was just over £21,000 which was an excellent amount for the charities concerned. Guests for the presentation were Welsh rugby international Ian Gough, a legend in the oval game for Wales and the Ospreys, and Mr Tim Brace, of FBM Estates and FBM Holidays, who have been an excellent supporter and sponsor of the Tenfoot Swim in the last two years.

The committee thanked the St Brides Spa for the venue on the night, and Hean Castle Estate, Trevayne Farm, Waterwynch House and Mr Roach, of Saundersfoot Beach, for access to land on the weekend of the event.

There were also thanks to Saundersfoot Harbour staff and the commissioners for all their work in making sure the swimmers had a free path to Saundersfoot beach, Tenby Sailing Club and Saundersfoot Sailing Club, respectively, and Pembrokeshire County Council for help with road closures.

Praise for all the safety services which helped on the day was also heard, enabling the safety of the event, allowing the swims to be such a success.

Tenby & Saundersfoot Sailing Clubs, Pembrokeshire Paddlers, Tenby Surf and Rescue, Narberth Netball, Valero and the RNLI were all thanked in this respect, as well as volunteer kayakers, marshals and boats who supported the safety team.

There was also a special thanks to all the sponsors of this year’s events as this enabled all the signing up fees to go to charity.

Recipients of the fundraising were the BCRT (Bone Cancer Research Trust, known as the Daniel Bridle memorial fund, and they were the beneficiary of the first cheque for £7,550.

The second charity, Huntington’s Disease Association,received £7,000.
