Members of the programme action committee of Soroptimist International Tenby and District were joined at the Cambrian Hotel, Saundersfoot, by representatives from West Wales Women's Aid, recently, to hand over a collection of various household items for use at the refuge.

Soroptimist International haspledged to support women and their families to regain their confidence and pride following domestic abuse. Members of SI Tenby and District have decided that the collection will be an ongoing project and hope to assist women further by offering help with items required to set up a new home.

Not content with just collecting furniture etc., members avidly collected old and rusty tools for use in Africa. The project 'Tools for Self Reliance' is managed by Mr. David Annis, who assured the ladies that all items would be cleaned and refurbished prior to being sorted into work packs, such as carpentry and engineering etc.

He thanked all members of SI Tenby and District for their support. This will be a continuing project.

To complete the day, over 20 pairs of old spectacles were handed over to Mr. Patel, The Pharmacy, Saundersfoot, to be incorporated in his collection for recycling and use in India.

Members of SI Tenby and District wish to thank all those who took part in these collections and to remind everyone that these three and the old mobile phones for recycling for teenagers corner will be ongoing.
