Visitors to Tenby Museum and Art Gallery will have the chance to view two certificates commemorating one of the town's 'greatest non events' following a recent chance discovery.
The certificates mark the decision taken in 1946 by the then Mayor, Alfred Francis OBE and the Borough Council to make wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill a Freeman of the Borough.
Although the reasons are unclear, Mr. Churchill never took up the offer to become the 156th Freeman of the Borough.
Now over 50-years on, the two hand-lettered documents on parchment have come to light after being found tucked away in a drawer in the Mayor's Parlour.
Since being discovered by town councillor, Stuart Fecci, they have created a lot of interest on what has been described as 'one of the greatest non-events in Tenby's history'!
As reported in last week's issue, the illuminated documents have now been framed and gifted to the Museum by the Town Council and no doubt they will intrigue visitors as they tour the Museum's 'Story of Tenby' gallery.
