Celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary yesterday (Thursday) were Don and Muriel Griffiths, of Vine Cottage, St. Mary's Street, Tenby. Born in Tenby, Don met Muriel in Skegness while he was on basic training with the RAF and she was on holiday. They married at St. Mary's Church, Radcliffe-on- Trent, Nottinghamshire. After a brief spell living in Wembley, the couple made their home in Tenby, running a guest house at Picton Road for a number of years. Don also worked for Esso, Texaco and Gulf, and finally for CEG Power Station in Pembroke before retiring. He was awarded the MBE in 2004 for his service to the town's Air Training Corps. A founder member of the 1284 Squadron, he was chairman for a number of years and is the current president. The couple have two daughters, Judith and Lynda, and a son David. They have six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. They will be celebrating their 60 years of marriage with a gettogether at the Royal British Legion Club.
