Tenovus Cancer Care, Wales’ leading cancer charity, would like to thank Dawn and Denise Davies who abseiled Pembroke Castle Keep and raised a fantastic £784 for the charity.
Dawn decided to take on this massive challenge after her Dad, Eric, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007. He was helped by staff from the Tenovus Cancer Care ManVan, who were able to offer support and advice to help Mr. Mathias through his diagnosis.
Dawn scaled the 75ft (22metres) despite having physical disabilities alongside her mother-in-law, Denise, who has a fear of heights.
She says that her Dad’s diagnosis hasn’t been the easiest for Mr. Mathias or the family.
“There have been plenty of ups and downs on this journey, but life was made easier for us all by having support provided by the ManVan. We’re so grateful to all those people who donated so we can help Tenovus Cancer Care keep giving help to people like my brave Dad who need it.”
Nichola Couceiro, regional community fundraising manager, is so proud and grateful to these fantastic fundraisers.
“We want to thank Dawn and Denise for their amazing fundraising efforts and we really appreciate their support. Tenovus Cancer Care brings treatment, emotional support and practical advice to where it matters most; the heart of the community. Without brave people like these guys helping us, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We’re very proud of them and again, a massive thank you from all of us.”
The ManVan is a 38ft converted motorhome supported by Prostate Cancer UK and Movember, travelling across Wales supporting men living with, and affected by, prostate and testicular cancer.
If you or someone you love has been affected by cancer, Tenovus Cancer Care can offer help and support.
