President Mim welcomed everyone back from the summer break and thanked Members for the August Coffee Morning which was a great success.
Jerusalem was sung. The speaker was Carol Clayton from PATCH, explaining what Patch does with donated goods.
Members were amazed at the numbers of people in Pembrokeshire needing their help. Carol was delighted with the gift of 100 items donated to Patch by members.
A vote of thanks was given by Margaret Fieldhouse.
Mim then opened the business with birthday greetings to Marina, Elaine and Sue Shaw, also to Margaret Fieldhouse and Betty for October as we shall not have a meeting.
The minutes of the July meeting were read and signed.
During tea, Liz collected menus for Plas Hyfryd dinner and also asked members to check and sign data protection forms. Correspondence was read. The raffle was won by Diane Morgan.
Continuing our 100-year celebrations we will be unveiling a plaque to commemorate the first meeting of the Carew WI on October 2, 1918.
It will take place at 10.30 am at the Hayloft in Milton; Janet, as our longest continual serving member, and Marjorie as the oldest member will do the honours. Then we have a church service at 7 pm at St Mary’s Church, Carew Cheriton
There will be no meeting in October because we will be celebrating with a dinner at Plas Hyfryd. The meeting after that will be the AGM on November 7.
This meeting was sponsored by the Lottery Fund and this evening’s theme was 100 items donated to PATCH.
