Carew 4 Cwmbran 3

The umpires abandoned this game after 66 minutes after continuous abusive comments and aggressive actions towards the officials.

Carew started well, with Smith sweeping in a goal after eight minutes. Smith put Carew two up from a penalty stroke awarded when a Cwmbran defender illegally stopped a certain goal.

The game was well contested in all areas of the pitch and Cwmbran came back well and scored two well-taken goals within a 10 minute purple patch, for the teams to turn around 2-2 at half-time.

The second half started much like the first, with Carew getting on top for a period of time, and from a short corner were awarded a second penalty stroke as a Smith shot at goal was stopped on the line by a foot. Smith converted the stroke with a fine flick into the top corner which the Cwmbran 'keeper, who had been outstanding all afternoon, was close to saving.

Carew went further ahead when Colley put Mason into position to put away a well-placed shot, only to see Cwmbran come back with an equally fine goal.

The game had turned into a 'dog fight' from the first penalty stroke and unfortunately deteriorated as it went on, only to be abandoned just before the end.
