Sir, I am looking for some help with an upcoming trip to Tenby. I would like to locate the grave of my grandfather and spread some of my grandmother's remains there, as she requested me to do. Perhaps also, I would like to contact local family, as apparently I have a large number of relatives in the area. My grandfather, Ivor Brace, was from Knightston Lake Farm, Tenby. He lost his life in an air raid on May 10, 1941, in London, and was buried on May 16, 1941. I am not sure of the location of the cemetery, but it is in Tenby. The May 22, 1941, edition of 'The Tenby and County News' had his death notice in it, and it states he was taken to New Hedges before his funeral. My grandmother lived with the Brace family for a year or so after my father's birth. This tragic death occurred just a couple of weeks shy of Ivor marrying my grandmother, who was pregnant with my father (David Ivor Gretton) at the time of his death. Ivor Brace was the son of Mr. John Brace (his mother's - my great-grandmother - maiden name was Henton, but she apparently died young). Ivor had several brothers and sisters: brothers are Bert (and Clara) Brace, Will (and May) Brace, Fred (and Violet) Brace, Charlie (and Mary) Brace, Stan (and Amy) Brace, Howard (and Amy) Brace; and sisters Mrs. Ruby (Ruth?) Stacey (and Bob), and Ms Winnie and Archie John. Many of the first names may be nicknames. He also had a large number of aunts and uncles with the last names of Brace, Hill, Thomas, Richards and Morse. It is my hope that someone will see this letter and contact me with information on my grandfather's grave site and family information. My e-mail address is: [email protected]">[email protected]
