A £500 donation towards safety cover at this summer’s annual Caldey Swim has been made by the Port of Milford Haven.

Tenby Sea Swimming Association will use the funding to enable first responders to be on hand at the popular charity event, which takes place between the island and the mainland on August 12.

Said Anna Malloy, stakeholder engagement and communications manager at the Port of Milford Haven: “We are pleased to be able to support Tenby Sea Swimming Association in arranging the fifth Caldey Swim.

“It is a fantastic event that brings the community together and encourages the enjoyment of the beautiful waters around Tenby.

“We wish them all the best with the event.”

The First Responders will be based on the swim’s ‘mother ship’ and at the start of the swim on Caldey’s Priory Bay.

Said Tenby Sea Swimming Association chairman Chris Osborne: “We are very glad to have the Port of Milford Haven on board once again as one of our principal sponsors to enable us to provide essential safety cover for our iconic swim.”

The 2.5-mile swim is in aid of the RNLI and Tenby Surflink, and some places are still available. To register, go to the Tenby Caldey Swim website.
