Sunday is the revised date for the Caldey Swim after weather conditions forced the postponement of the August 6 event.

The endurance swim, in aid of the RNLI, will start from Caldey Island’s Priory Beach at 11 am, weather permitting.

All swimmers are expected to cover the 2.5-mile distance back to the mainland within two hours, with the first swimmer set to arrive back within the hour.

The finishing line for the event is on Tenby’s North Beach, between the quay and the old lifeboat house.

The swim is being organised by Tenby Sea Swimming Association, whose chairman, Chris Osborne, said: “As always, we will be consulting with coastguards and Tenby Surf Lifesaving Club at 7 am on Sunday and the safety of our swimmers will be paramount. We hope the swim will be able to go ahead, but if weather conditions are once again unfavourable, we will be contacting all our entrants and posting on Facebook and Twitter.”

Because some swimmers have been unable to reschedule, there are now several places available on the swim, which can be secured via www.tenby-caldey-swim.co.uk/swimmers before midday tomorrow (Friday).
