Sir,

I see from your article in last week's edition that our MP Simon Hart has had the idea of introducing red squirrels to Caldey.

I would like to point out that my brother, Alun Morgan, has been trying to get this project accepted for a number of years. He has been working quietly in the background, with the help of Roscoe Howells, endeavouring to get support in order to overcome any obstacles. He also contacted Iolo Williams and Prince Charles. He sent out aerial photographs of Caldey, which he had taken, to show its suitability as a sanctuary.

If you refer to previous correspondence relating to the red squirrels your paper can claim some credit if the idea comes to fruition. You printed a long letter pointing out the advantages and giving some ideas from my brother (August 2009). This was followed up by two letters of support, from Roscoe Howells and from the late Mr. Bernard Widdowson, of Cumbria, both of which you printed.

In the meantime, my brother is very glad that Simon Hart has taken up this matter.

Mrs. Ray Lowe,

Tenby.
