Before the doors are even opened for the new season, schools are eager to step back in time and book a visit to the National Trust's Tudor Merchant's House in Tenby.

Staff at Tudor Merchant's House are delighted that their Tuesday sessions for schools are fully booked for the spring term, with some schools travelling significant distances to share in a Tudor lifestyle with the education team.

All visiting schools have asked to participate in a house tour providing an introduction to the property with Master Greg, the Tudor Merchant and Mistresses Sue and Angela, the house maids. Acting in role they are able to take children - and staff - back 500 years to a very different time.

Many of the classes are delving further into Tudor life through a look at the harbour and what happened when Master Greg's boat was expected; preparing for a Tudor meal and looking at what people wore.

Custodian Alyson Bush commented: "It's great to be able to share our knowledge of the house and Tudor Tenby and we love being asked questions like 'Why were there no forks on the table?' and 'Which colours were you able to wear?' All these questions and many, many more can be answered by the enthusiastic staff and volunteers at the Tudor Merchant's House and not just when schools visit!"

The house is open daily for February half-term visitors from tomorrow (Saturday) to Sunday, February 17, from 11 am - 3 pm, then weekends only to March 24.
