Enterprise Inns has invested £115,000 in The Captain’s Table, a harbour-side restaurant situated in the idyllic village of Saundersfoot, to help experienced operator, Julian Bones, bring his strong vision for the pub to life.

Julian has 33 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, across a broad range of specialities, including, cocktail-making, front-of-house management, outside catering and night club management, to name a few.

In collaboration with Enterprise, he has been able to call upon his wealth of experience to turn the Captain’s Table into a unique pub that attracts locals and tourists with its quality food and drink offers.

Julian said: “I’ve been in this industry a long time, the hours can be demanding and I wanted a change of pace. When I saw the opportunity to take over this quintessential seaside pub, I jumped at it - waking up with a harbour view was too much to resist.

“I’ve kept the menu simple and focused on serving fresh local ingredients, cooked to perfection and served with a smile. I expect the crab, freshly caught metres away in the harbour and cooked to order, to be a popular choice, as well as traditional roast dinners, served on a Sunday and Wednesday.

“I worked closely with Enterprise to change the look and feel of the pub. It’s in the perfect location, so we wanted the ambience to reflect its stunning views.”

The 19th Century pub has been fully refurbished inside and out, with a modern, nautical theme that nods to its idyllic harbour-side location. There’s even a boat in the garden, bought and renovated by Julian, which will serve coffee and tea.

Wayne Jones, regional manager Enterprise Inns, said: “We’d spent a long time searching for a suitable publican for this site. When we met Julian, he had a clear vision for how he wanted the pub to be and we’ve helped him make it happen.

“I can see the pub doing very well. Julian’s put together a great menu of food and drink, the pub looks the part and its breath-taking views of the beach and coastline speak for themselves.

“He’s a top class operator, and his little touches, such as building a boat in the garden, and running themed happy hour cocktail evenings and Prosecco nights, will attract custom throughout the year.

“It will be great to see the hard work pay off, when the garden’s buzzing with happy customers during the busy summer months.”

The pub has now officially re-opened and taken on 12 local staff. It is open Monday-Sunday

As well as taking on his new role, Julian will continue to run his 11-bedroom boutique hotel in the Cotswolds, which he personally designed.
