Local councillors have welcomed a boost for taxpayers in Tenby with the announcement that there will be no increase in their budget for the forthcoming year.
Members of the town council agreed to the budget at their meeting on Tuesday night, following previous discussions by their finance committee who met recently.
"The council will see that the total planned expenditure proposed is £25,699.72 more than last year, but with grant funding, along with funding from reserves and projected income from the De Valence, the actual precept requirement is £146,019.30, a marginal increase of £59.19 on last year," explained the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies.
"However, with a revision to the Council Tax base this year, the Band D equivalent precept levy will actually be £55.64, a reduction of 10 pence on last year," he added.
Clr. Lawrence Blackhall said he was sure that locals would welcome the news on the budget.
"In this difficult economic climate, no increase to the budget for the residents of Tenby should be praised and welcomed, especially while it manages to offer additional resources to the Jubilee Play Park for the community at no extra increase," he commented.
