Last Sunday saw the Welsh Women's Amateur Golf Championship being played at Aberdovey, with Holly Watkins representing Tenby. The top 16 finishers of the competition then qualify for the matchplay stages.
With an all-star field containing former and present Curtis Cup players as well as the current European Ladies Strokeplay Champion and the Glamorgan Ladies Champion looking for good positions, it was going to be very tough.
The performance was very impressive from Holly who managed to finish in 14th spot and will now enter the matchplay stages which will give her a great experience of playing against the best. Well done Holly, keep up the good performances!
Last Saturday, Sam Morgan stole the show in the Men's Monthly Medal, destroying a field of almost 90 players to return a nett of 67 in very difficult conditions. What was more remarkable was that his winning margin was by some five clear shots. Another medal safely in the trophy cabinet - well done Sam.
Tied in second place was Richard Morton with a splendid 72 nett, just missing out on a top three spot by his back nine.
