Tenby's famous Boxing Day Swim has chosen three charities for its brave bathers to dive in and support this Christmas.

St. John Cymru, the Harriet Davis Trust and Splash Out 2015 are the trio of good causes nominated by event organisers, the Tenby Sea Swimming Association (TSSA).

St. John Cymru is one of several organisations which provides safety cover at the event, and its voluntary members have been at every swim for over 40 years.

Said Victoria Stevens, the officer in charge of the Tenby Pembroke division: "We love attending the Boxing Day Swim - it's such a fantastic event for the area. To receive an extra donation is a great bonus and will help us maintain our divisional ambulance and buy new equipment."

The Harriet Davis Trust, which has several holiday homes for disabled children and their families in south Pembrokeshire, is marking a notable birthday next year.

Explained the trust's development manager, Elizabeth Sleight: "I was delighted when I heard that we'd been chosen as one of the charities for this year's Boxing Day Swim.

"We had planned a special fund-raising campaign for 2015, as it will be the 21st anniversary of the opening of Harriet's House on Tenby Harbour, so we really could not have hoped for a better start than this.

"Both of our Tenby properties are due for a bit of revamping and maintaining all the high-dependency equipment in our properties is a big cost to the trust. We're hoping to raise £21,000 over the year to mark this special anniversary."

Splash Out 2015 is a surf experience event for children with autism in Pembrokeshire, and follows on from the success of the inaugural event this year.

Said Splash Out organiser, Angelo Fecci: "The support from the Boxing Day Swim will go a long way to helping us deliver this experience to these children.

"Demand for spaces on Splash Out is astronomical, and funding like this is vital to us operating this event, and will play a massive part in our ability to reach out to more families."
