Tenby in Bloom is to receive a financial boost from the town council. At Tuesday evening's meeting of the council, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, said she felt that the the event was of paramount importance to the town and in light of the fact that the town council would be receiving less help from county council due to financial constraints, she proposed a sum of £1,500 be donated to the Tenby in Bloom committee. She said: "I know that the Mayor and her Deputy who sit on the committee do a wonderful job for the town and in some cases have to fund costs out of their own pockets for Tenby in Bloom. "We need to keep up the high standards set in the last couple of years and hopefully we may see the prestigious Britain in Bloom return to the town." Clr. Mrs. Brown also thanked Clrs. Mrs. Lane and Mrs. Rossiter for their hard work in advance of the event, judging for which will take place on Wednesday, July 16. Added Clr. Mrs. Lane: "It would be such a feather in the cap to see Britain in Bloom back at Tenby. We would like to urge all the businesses in the town to make a big effort for this year's event. We do need more flowers in the centre of Tenby - every little pot helps. "I would like to thank the council for the generous gift, it will all go back into the town in a positive way."
