Blind charity walker Wendy Jones arrived in Tenby yesterday (Thursday) as part of the last lap of her marathon Pembrokeshire Coast Path walk. Wendy from Pontypridd and her sighted friend Elly Morgan, of Pwll Deri, near Fishguard, are raising funds for, and awareness of the British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society (Fighting Blindness). Wendy lost a large amount of her sight six years ago to Retinitis Pigmentosa. They have walked every yard of the 186 miles from St. Dogmaels, near Cardigan, since June 8. In that time, Wendy and Elly have tackled the equivalent of more than the 29,000ft height of Mount Everest. Both walkers, who were expected to finish their marathon at Amroth yesterday afternoon, have been joined by many individuals, school parties, groups and organisations, and received tremendous support all along the way.

Blind walker Wendy Jones, along with her sighted friend Elly Morgan, are presented with a Tenby Town Council shield by the town’s Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, on their arrival in Tenby. Also seen are many of the walkers who have joined the duo on part of their walk of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
