A flock of feathered friends flew in to a recent meeting of Pembroke Dock Youth Club.

Thirty youth club youngsters were joined by European Eagle Owls, an Arctic Snow Owl, a Barn Owl and a Harris Falcon for a special session on falconry.

The birds were brought into the youth club by Paul Treweeks, who has been a falconer for 35 years.

Mr. Treweeks gave a talk on birds of prey - both in the wild and in captivity - and afterwards the youngsters took part in a hands-on session with the birds using special gloves.

Community youth worker Matt Done said the session had proved extremely popular.

"Due to the interest shown by the youngsters, the youth club will now be booking extra sessions in the outdoors so that they can watch the birds fly and hunt," he said.

"We hope to also enable them to take part in a short accredited course in falconry."
