A protest was staged at the Cleddau Bridge on Sunday by a group of local bikers campaigning to get motorbike charges axed.

Around 25 members of the Pembrokeshire Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) rode across the bridge en-masse, driving home their argument that motorbike tolls cause unnecessary traffic jams.

South Wales representative Phil McFadden said that each biker took about three minutes to get through the booths which created a substantial queue for motorists.

He explained that the bikers were required to put their bikes on a stand and switch of the engines for safety reasons before locating the money and waiting for the correct change.

Last week, Pembrokeshire County Council said that it intended to "maintain the status quo with free passage being granted for the disabled in prescribed circumstances."

Further action and other biking issues will be discussed by Pembrokeshire MAG at the Prince of Wales pub, Laws Street, Pembroke Dock, on Monday, at 7.30 pm.
