PICTURED receiving an award in recognition of her dedicated service to Tenby RNLI is Mrs. Joan Johnson, of 62 Croft Court, Tenby. Joan has been a hard-working member of Tenby Ladies Guild (now Tenby Fund Raising Branch) since 1984, when at her very first meeting she was persuaded to take over the post of secretary, a job she continued until becoming chairman in 1989. She worked hard and with great enthusiasm until retiring in 1995. Joan then succeeded Mrs. 'Pinnie' Howells in becoming president. In 1996, her dedicated service was recognised by the RNLI when she was awarded a statuette. In April this year she retired from the post as president after 20 years' service. This week, Joan was presented with the RNLI framed certificate of thanks. Presenting the award was Beverley Rosser-Smith, RNLI area manager. Joan continues to take a lively interest in all that goes on at the boathouse. From her sixth floor flat she has a bird's eye view of every launch. She eagerly awaits the completion of the new boathouse and the arrival of the Tamar class lifeboat the 'Haydn Miller'.
