For five consecutive Sundays in the early autumn special 'seal watch' walks will take place as part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park's Activities and Events programme.

The Pembrokeshire coastline and islands are a major stronghold for the Atlantic Grey Seal and the Coast Path provides an excellent vantage to see seals and the new pups at close quarters, without disturbing them.

The Sunday walks, from Martin's Haven car park, near Marloes, are around the Deer Park headland and will be led by Kate Lock. The easy going one-mile walks - which begin on September 15 - are for all the family and each begins at 3 pm.

Said Kate: "The Deer Park provides an excellent view on to a couple of very important pupping beaches.

"The 'seal season' is from late August until mid October and already several pups have been born locally."

The seal theme is continued with a slide show - on the lifestyle of the Grey Seal - at St. David's Visitor Centre on Tuesday, September 17, and a guided walk on Ramsey Island on Thursday, September 19. The speaker and leader in both cases will be Ramsey Island warden Ian Bullock.

Other autumn events include another of the popular industrial and maritime history walks at Porthgain, ending up with a musical evening in the little port's Sloop Inn, tomorrow (Saturday).
