Bank Holiday Monday, August 25, is the day, Tenby's Rosie Swale Pope has set for her homecoming on her epic round-the-world adventure. As reported last week, the 61-year-old grandmother has just got back on the road after breaking several ribs in a fall in Iceland. Now she is looking forward to setting foot on British soil for the first time in five years when she arrives in Scotland next month. Her arrival at Scrabster on June 18, Rosie says on her website - http://www.rosiearoundtheworld.co.uk">www.rosiearoundtheworld.co.uk - is going to be special and happy. Said Rosie who will be met by her family and close friends: "I'm just going to be happy and enjoy the moment. It will be a small, quite intimate occasion, I think, as the main event will be the finish in Tenby on August 25! But it will be my first footstep on British soil for nearly five years - wow! I am very conscious of the fact that after Scrabster I still have a long, hard run. It is approximately 850 miles from Scrabster to Tenby. "I'm thrilled that August 25 is my homecoming. That is fantastic. I have to run an average of 15 miles a day, with one day off a week, and about three spare days on top! I think to do the last leg down Britain with verve is the best way of honouring my wonderful family and friends and all my kind supporters." When she finishes, Rosie says she will have completed her challenge in 1,798 days. Rosie added: "Sometimes in the wilderness, I could only do half-a-mile. It really has been a struggle, though very well worth it all. I will not have achieved anything until I get to Tenby, any more than a runner in the London Marathon can ask for a medal before the full 26.2 miles!" From Scrabster, Rosie will be heading for Drumbeg, before Eskdale in the Lake District, Liverpool - and Tenby. "I will be dancing for joy, as well as running!" Rosie added.

Proudly flying the Welsh flag! Rosie peeps out from her home on wheels, Icebird.
