Fourteen-year-old Tenby schoolgirl Miranda Davies enjoyed success again recently in the Welsh National Walking Championships, managing to finish second in the 1,000 metre event. Miranda picked up the silver medal in an excellent contest that saw both first and second placed athletes smash the U15s girls record, with Miranda recording a time of five minutes and 24.99 seconds, just one second off the winner. Miranda's coach, Martin Bell, was delighted with her performance and is expecting a lot more to come from her in the future. She has been chosen to walk for Dyfed Schools in the 2,000 metre walk for the Under 17s Girls Team at the Welsh Schools National Final to be held in Brecon in July. Miranda's athletics achievements have not just come in the walking events, she has been successful this season in the 1,500m and also during the winter season in the cross country, both for Greenhill School and Pembrokeshire Harriers.
