PLAID Cymru - The Party of Wales in Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire has selected Llyr Hughes Griffiths to be its candidate for the National Assembly election in 12 months time. Mr. Griffiths, who is the current Mayor of Carmarthen, is a well known local figure, having stood as the party's candidate in the same constituency at last year's General Election.

The selection meeting was held at St. Teilo's Catholic Church Hall in Tenby.

Thirty-one-year-old Llyr Hughes Griffiths is a member of CATCH (Campaign for Action on Tenby Cottage Hospital) and is also co-ordinator of the campaign to ensure a 24-hour Ambulance Station at Whitland which would improve ambulance services throughout the whole of West Wales.

Raised and educated in the constituency, Llyr Hughes Griffiths works in Haverfordwest as a political researcher for the party's Member of the European Parliament.
