Tenby’s ‘Mayor Making’ has seen Cllr Dai Morgan make it a hat-trick in the role.

Cllr Morgan fills the role for the third successive year, although this time, with a new Deputy Mayor by his side, with Cllr Tom Sloan [taking over from Cllr Charles Dale] installed in the position for the seaside town.

At the February meeting of Tenby Town Council, members unanimously voted Cllr Morgan back in to don the scarlet robes of office once again for a third successive term.

“I’m incredibly proud and humbled to be re-elected as mayor of Tenby,” Cllr Morgan told his fellow members at the time.

“I feel very lucky to continue this journey. I'm dedicated to working hard for our community and its future.

Tenby Town Council’s Annual General Meeting and Mayor Making ceremony took place at the Mayor’s Parlour and De Valence Pavilion on the evening of Friday, May 9 with proceedings confirming the election of the Mayor for the year 2025-26, with a ‘declaration of acceptance’ of office.

Mayor, Cllr Morgan’s partner Melanie Lewis will be his Mayoress again; while Cllr Sloan’s wife Daniella was appointed as Deputy Mayoress.

The roles of Sergeant at Arms [Spike Abbott]; Sergeant at Mace [Denise Cousins]; and Town Crier [Erin Morgan] were also confirmed at the ceremony.

The Mayor appointed Rev Steven Brett as Mayor’s Chaplain; with representatives from the Sea Cadets, Air Cadets and Police Cadets to serve as Mayor’s Cadets for 2025-26.

"Serving a third consecutive term as Mayor will be a tremendous honour,” remarked Mayor, Cllr Morgan after the ceremony.

“I deeply appreciate the trust and support shown by this council and community. It would be a privilege to continue serving and working towards our shared goals.

“This town holds a special place in my heart, and I'm excited to us continuing our work together.”
