The latest exhibition at Art Matters, Tenby, features the paintings of Andrew G. Bailey, a prolific young local artist exhibiting for the first time in the south of the county.

Andrew works intensively on the fine detail of his watercolours, being drawn to out of the way woodland scenes, secluded coves and early morning beaches. This year he has been inspired by watching diving gannets, producing exciting images of their speed and accuracy. Another series features the Gwaun Valley, secret views of the river in dappled light, whereas the third series shows storms and changing winter light at Marloes.

As a design graduate, Andrew had already taken commissions since he was 18. He exhibited in London and produced a large number of works for the Natural History Museum, the World Wide Fund for Nature and several other agencies in publishing and advertising. He came to Wales in 1992 and quickly established himself, his studio in Haverfordwest, and a strenuous round of one-man and shared exhibitions in the north of the county.

With both dramatic and powerful paintings, and beautiful tranquil images, the exhibition fully represents the best of this talented artist's work, and in a range of sizes and prices.

The exhibition starts on Monday, December 3 and continues to the New Year, 10 am to 5 pm daily (except Sundays, Christmas Day and Boxing Day) at Art Matters, South Parade, Tenby. Telephone (01834) 843375 for further information.
