Despite the rain in the morning, the weather cleared up in the afternoon and the Jubilee celebration party at New Inn Caravan Site, Amroth - attended by more than 250 adults and 60 children - went ahead as planned on Monday, June 3.
It was officially opened by the 'Queen', who said that she never let rain bother her, as she had 'reigned' for 50 years.
The party started with a children's fancy dress, which was judged by three lady volunteers. The first prize of a cup was awarded to 'Princess', while second and third prize rosettes went to 'Captain Hook' and 'Jubilee Queen'.
Then there were sports, which included traditional sack and potato and spoon races and a tug-of-war. This was followed by a buffet and barbeque, which included a pig roast, while the day was rounded off with an open-air disco.
All in all, it was agreed that it had been a right royal occasion, made all the more successful by the enthusiasm, friendliness and generosity of all the caravanners on site.
Everyone is now looking forward to the Amroth Day Carnival on July 28, when the New Inn site will again be entering a float.
