Villagers in Amroth having a quiet night in for New Year’s Eve showed that they had ‘Biggar’ fish to fry when they awoke the next morning to welcome 2016 in style.

The hardy dippers always prove to be a colourful sight as they take the plunge for the annual New Year’s Day fundraising event, which has been held in front of the Amroth Arms for over 30 years.

Some entrants showed it was a team effort by displaying their support for Rugby World Cup star Dan Biggar, by wearing full Welsh kit and masks, before gathering on the beach front at 12 noon, and marching down to the cold sea, much to the delight of the spectators.

There were a few misplaced attempts at passes in the sea, before participants returned to the shore to enjoy the festivities and more fundraising organised in the village.
