The magic of Hogwarts descended on Amroth Beach on January 1 to welcome in 2018!
Now in its 38th year, the Amroth Community Dippers took to the chilly waves on New Year’s Day as characters from the Harry Potter series in order to raise funds for Amelie’s Rainbow - which was set up by 10-year-old Amelie Kessells to raise money for various children’s cancer charities following her own illness.
Around 45 swimmers entered the water from the main slipway in front of Amroth Castle and were supported by hundreds of onlookers along the promenade and on the beach, which had the local businesses bustling throughout the rest of the day with festive revelry.
The organisers would like to thank everyone who came down to support the swimmers and so generously donated sponsorship to Amelie’s Rainbow, and all of the local businesses for their support.
For those still wishing to support Amelie’s Rainbow, donations can be made online at https://www.gofundme.com/amelies-rainbow (we ask that you please leave a message indicating that you are donating on behalf of the #AmrothDippers if donating online).
