At the April meeting of Amroth Community Council, it was resolved that Ruth Roberts, secretary to Llanteg History Society, could make arrangements for the unveiling ceremony at Mountain Chapel, send invites to various parties and organise a press release. The clerk received replies to various matters: Trelessy Road, Llanteg - passing bays along this stretch of road would be considered for the coming financial year's coded works programme. A positive result. Wisemans Bridge - carriageway surface was acceptable. Any potholes would be made good, but the car parking situation on land alongside the road was neither highway nor owned by the county council. Therefore, any requests for repairs could not be undertaken. 1 and 2 Summerhill, Amroth - arrangements had been made for the widening of the road to be carried out early in the coming financial year. Another positive result. Bends at Kings Park, Ludchurch - no road markings or chevrons would be installed at this site. It was considered to be well marked by triangular signs forewarning drivers that bends were imminent. Not a positive result. The 30 mph signs could not be moved without a lot of legalities being implemented. Orders needed to go to Pembrokeshire County Council who had to get a court order and contact the Police and the AA. Thus, no signs would be moved. Flooding outside Temple Bar Inn and the Cartwheel was to be monitored by the county council. The question was raised as to whether Amroth Community Council could pursue the matter so that the work could be completed to resolve the matter? There was also a sewer along this busy stretch of road that was collapsing. Clr. Brinsden would deal with the matter and report back to council in due course. There was also flooding outside the Mill Caravan site in Pleasant Valley. Clr. Brinsden would pursue this matter also. There could have been a serious accident on the lower road at Llanteg recently, between Norton Lodge and Captains Pond. A child almost got run over by a passing vehicle. It was suggested that signs stating 'Slow - children' should be installed along the stretch of road. The clerk was to pursue this. Council were pleased to be informed that the equestrian signs had been installed in the area. However, one had been moved and another was to be moved due to them being installed in inappropriate places. Council were informed that complaints were being made with regard to rubbish other than dog waste being put into the newly- installed bins along Amroth sea-front. However, Clr. Brinsden informed the meeting that the bins would be emptied by Pembrokeshire County Council on a regular, free of charge, basis. There had been a lot of publicity regarding the matter of jet skis. There was a piece in the Tenby Observer giving details of a meeting to be held in the Amroth Arms in May to discuss the matter and Radio Pembrokeshire had received communication from Mr. Tom Baker advertising the event. Mr. Baker was quite adamant that the slipway at Amroth should be reopened for small water craft users and jet skis. Clr. Brinsden had been in contact with the radio station and offered a reply in which he stressed that Amroth lay within the Pembrokeshire within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and was a Blue Flag Bathing Beach. The whole ethos of the National Park was peace and tranquillity, to enjoy the natural beauty and splendour of the area. When, last year, he was canvassing for election to the county council, he visited every house in Amroth ward and spoke to 75-80 per cent of the electorate. The biggest area of complaint was the use of jet skis on Amroth beach. "I have a great deal of sympathy with the small boat and sailing dinghy owners who used to quietly launch and then sail out to do some fishing and I would have no problems with this category of owner using Amroth beach again." he added. "And indeed this will be allowed providing certain conditions can be guaranteed to the council." A meeting took place between the county council and Clr. Brinsden at the old clay pits with a view to installing recycling bins at this site. The county council would look into the matter further and was impressed that Amroth Community Council had shown an effort to find an alternative site, other than the village hall car park at Llanteg. Council should receive a positive reply before the May meeting. There was only one issue regarding this site and that was that a solid base needed to be installed to take the weight of lorries when emptying and replacing the banks. Council were informed that the application for building works on land adjacent to the Amroth Arms had been deferred again, until the May meeting. The clerk read a letter from Clr. Mrs. Judith Lloyd offering her resignation to Amroth Community Council. Clr. Lloyd was moving from the area to be near her family. She stated that she had thoroughly enjoyed the seven years in which she had been a representative for Crunwere ward and thanked fellow councillors for the encouragements and friendship they had always shown her. She wished them, and the clerk, all the very best for the future. The council thanked Clr. Lloyd for all the work she had undertaken over the years and offered her and her husband their very best wishes for the future. Clr. Lloyd was presented with a basket of flowers and was assured that she would be sadly missed. Date of the next meeting is Thursday, May 19, at 6.30 pm, to include the AGM.
