Access improvements in Tenby have been welcomed by the town’s Mayor and his mum too!

Correspondence recently came before Tenby town council from Pembrokeshire County Council’s access officer Alan Hunt outlining proposals to provide more dropped kerb sections and improve flush kerbs in areas of South Cliff Street, South Parade, St Florence Parade and Lower Frog Street, after Mr. Hunt and town councillors had conducted a ‘walkabout’ of the town to pinpoint areas where additional access could be installed.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall said that his mother was down over the festive period and praised the amount of dropped kerbs.

“She usually manages on her sticks, but was using a wheelchair, and commented on how helpful the dropped kerbs proved in her getting around Tenby. It shows that some of the improvements made have really benefited people,” added Clr. Blackhall.
